What is Radiesse filler?

Radiesse is a dermal filler made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water gel. It is injected into the skin to restore lost facial contours. Radiesse immediately adds volume to create an immediate benefit. Unlike other fillers, Radiesse, with its microsphere technology, starts a process called collagenesis, i.e., it stimulates your body to produce new collagen and encourages the collagen to grow around the injection area.

Radiesse dermal filler is made of unique parented calcium hydroxylapatite (CAHA). Microspheres are suspended in a water-based gel. When injected into the skin, the microspheres initially act as a filler providing immediate volume and fullness. Over time, the body will absorb or carry the gel away, leaving the microspheres behind to stimulate new collagen production. As collagen is generated, the microspheres are degraded and metabolized. There is no evidence of migration. The calcium hydroxylapatite crystals are identical to the composition of a mineral portion of bones and teeth.

Is it safe?

Radiesse dermal filler has been clinically tested for years with excellent safety and efficacy. It is FDA approved. Radiesse is made from a biocompatible substance that is identical to what is naturally found in bones and teeth. There is virtually no risk of allergic reaction, and the product is free of human and animal byproducts. A skin test is not required prior to treatment.

Where can Radiesse be used?

Radiesse can be used in smile lines, marionette lines, and to restore lost contours in the cheeks, chin, and backs of hands. Results last approximately one year.

Are the injections painful?

Pain management techniques are available to ensure comfort. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the skin surface. In addition, we mix a small amount of local anesthetic directly into the product prior to injection.

Are there side effects?

There have been few side effects reported; these include injection-related reactions such as irritation, swelling, itching, discoloration, and tenderness. These typically resolve within a few days.
