Body peel facts:
Body peels contain a combination of trichloroacetic and glycolic acids
that are designed to penetrate and improve sun damaged skin of the neck,
chest, arms, and legs. The skin in these areas is more resistant to treatment
and yet more susceptible to scarring, so that skill and care are necessary
when performing these peels. They are usually administered in series of
two or three, spaced one or two months apart. Fine peeling can occur over
a period of weeks or longer after each session. The goal of these body
peels is to even out skin tone, and to minimize the roughness of sun damaged
skin. A light, moisturizing ointment is applied on a daily basis. Neck
peels can play an important role in helping to blend and hide the line
of demarcation, following the facial laser resurfacing. These peels are
best suited for light complected individuals as there is an increased
risk of a regular and spotty pigmentation, in those with darker complexion.
Dr. Binstock will be happy to discuss these with you in greater detail,
and answer any questions you may have about them.
