Dr. Binstock was voted the "Best Dermatologist
in San Francisco" by the readers of the Nobhill Gazette in
January 2000.
San Francisco Examiner:
Health, "The Decline and Fall."
"The fear of aging is real to both men and women," says Dr. Jeffrey Binstock,
a dermatologist at University of California, San Francisco.
Rob Morse article on Facial Fat Transfers METAPHOR COME TRUE:
San Francisco dermatological surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Binstock has a new procedure
called "microliposuction". It involves removing small amounts of one's
"fanny fat" and injecting it into one's facial wrinkles or crevices
thus creating the face that launches 1,000 jokes. Well, it would make
kissing fanny a lot easier...
Style, "Your Skin, Fact vs. Fiction."
Cosmetics companies are not appreciative of dermatologists who toss off
potions, lotions and glamorous creams as "pure hype," as Bay Area dermatologist
Jeffrey Binstock MD called the expensive skin care lines such as Glycel,
La Prairie or Erno Laszlo. Neither are they fond of dermatologists who
claim that the petrolatum in Vaseline is "probably all the moisturizer
you'll need."
Feature magazine article entitled, "Saving Face."
...Baby boomers - a generation famous for its '60s youth - are growing
older, says Binstock. "They still want to look young, because they
think it makes them more competitive."...
...Jeffrey Binstock, a dermatologic surgeon offers an array of newer techniques
such as liposuction (fat-sucking), collagen injections, chemical face
peels and microlipoinjection (fat grafting),...
...Dr. Jeffrey Binstock sees a lot of patients, who not only want to be
pretty, they want to be thin. About 80 percent of his patients are women.
Diets and leglifts, they say, haven't gotten rid of their bulges. They
want their excess fat sucked away...
...Binstock mainly treats professional women between the ages of 35 and
45. Most, he says, "want to look more competitive." The people
he treats are basically satisfied with themselves and don't expect miracles
from the procedure - just thinner thighs or a flatter stomach. "It's
not going to give somebody a new job, a new husband or make them popular."

"Recycled Fat Fills in Natures Mistakes."
...Micro-Liposuction surgery. Make that fat-suction surgery. Hmmmmmm.
To the body-conscious among us, the concept is almost too deliciously
irresistible: transferring fat from one part of the body to another...
...Fat, Binstock continued, is a natural filler material that can be reinjected
into the individual who donated it. It can be used to fill out deep lines
around the mouth and between the brows, restore fullness to the upper
lip and help eliminate lines, fill in depressions at the angle of the
mouth, reshape hollow cheeks and build up cheek bones and the chin.
Binstock learned the new procedure from pioneering Paris surgeon Dr. Pierre
Fournier. ...
"Advice goes unheaded. People still ignore dangers of tanning"
...Dr. Jeffrey Binstock repairs the results of skin cancer through plastic
surgery in his office in San Francisco "It's such a truly preventable
disease." He urged people to wear sunscreen daily. It's the daily
and relentless exposure to sun, after all, that leads to most skin cancer,
he noted. ...
USA Today:
Health and Behavior, Ask The Doctor,
"Smoothing Out Wrinkles as an Age Old Problem"
Q. Help! I'm too young for wrinkles! What's causing them?
A. There are many causes. There are sun-induced wrinkles from ultraviolet
light exposure. Those are the wrinkles that eventually make your skin
look crackled and leathery. Another kind is from gravity. The jowls come
down below the jawline, the neck gets droopy, around the mouth. In essence,
the skin gets droopy. Another type is caused by facial muscle expressions,
for example, horizontal forehead wrinkles, lip lines, frown lines.
San Francisco Magazine:
Article called "Fat Chance" discussing micro liposuction fat grafting.
...Dr. Jeffrey Binstock, a San Francisco dermatological surgeon, is one
of the first doctors in the country to apply the method of microlipoinjection,
which moves fat from where you don't want it to where you do. In an hour-long
office visit, Binstock numbs one body area (usually buttocks, abdomen,
or thighs) and uses a syringe to withdraw extra fat. He then injects it
into another area to wipe out deep furrows, lines or creases. ...
Good Housekeeping:
The Better Way. "New ways to get rid of wrinkles"
Collagen: A purified form of protein that is injected (by a dermatologist
or plastic surgeon) below the skin surface to fill in scars and wrinkles.
There are three formulations, explains Dr. Jeffrey Binstock, a dermatologic
surgeon in San Francisco. Zyderm II and new, more durable Zyplast are
for deeper lines, scars, and contour deformities. Candidates must have
at least one skin-sensitivity test for possible allergy to the material.
A touch-up is usually needed after about a year, sometimes sooner. Cost:
$200 to $600 per treatment session, depending on the material, plus consultation
and skin-test costs.

Chapter ten on Scarring,
"Ten Ways to Decrease Damage" Helps wounds heal properly.
A wound that heals quickly and neatly is less likely to develop a
scar than a wound that festers. Make sure all your cuts and scrapes
are properly cleaned (hydrogen peroxide is a good cleanser), and try
to keep the wound slightly moist with an antibiotic ointment while
it is healing, says Jeffrey H. Binstock, M.D., a dermatologist in
private practice and an assistant clinical professor of dermatologic
surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, School of
Medicine.

Chapter twenty-four on Wrinkles, "Tips to Slow Aging"
Avoid tanning booths. They produce the very same wrinkling rays as
the sun, says Jeffrey H. Binstock, M.D., a dermatologist in private
practice and an assistant clinical professor of dermatologic surgery
at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine.
Keep pillows away from your face. "Watch out for sleep wrinkles",
says Dr. Binstock. These are wrinkles that are caused by pressing
your face into the pillow at night. If you're guilty of this habit,
learn to sleep on your back instead, or experiment to find a position
where your face is not pressing the pillow. You may see some of your
smaller lines fade away.
